Short Player Tips

When people think of basketball players, many of them think of really tall people playing on both sides. The idea is pretty common that basketball is a tall person’s sport and that it is usually only them that play it. This however, is not a true statement. A lot of short players do play basketball and many of them have played quite well at the highest levels of the game. In this article we will be talking about how a shorter player can train to be even better than the average tall player in a game of basketball. Your height does not have to leave you out of a game where most people are 6 feet 7 inches tall. Instead, you can build up the skills to be just as great. So here are some great basketball tips for shorter players who want to play basketball well.

So one of the first things you should do is try and get better at dribbling. It is generally a lot easier for a shorter player to be dribbling quickly and swiftly. While your height may be a disadvantage in some parts of the game like dunking or high lay ups, you will be pretty good for things like dribbling and beating defenses. Being able to cut through taller players with good dribbling makes it really hard for them to steal the ball from you. Many well known short players were masters of dribbling and it can make all the difference in the game.

Another thing you can be great at is becoming a three point master. With most players trying to stay off of the three pointers and aiming for an easier two points, you can change the speed of the game by getting better at three pointers overall.
