Autism Symptoms

Today we had a great discussion with clinical social worker/author John Merges about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). We touched briefly on what it is, but the main focus was on how to break down the communication barriers when it comes to working with kids and teens with ASD and John’s use of Social Enjoyment Groups as a way to help prepare them for various social situations such as school and with an eventual goal of them being able to get jobs as young adults and become more self-sufficient.

Be sure to stay tuned as we’ll be having John back on again next month to talk more about ASD along with some parents of children he has worked with to share their perspectives. You can find out more about John on his website at johnmerges.com

Today’s show was sponsored by Positively Healthy.
