Loving-Kindness meditation is a practice of universal friendliness, or unconditional love. Loving-Kindness signifies friendship and non-violence “a strong wish for the happiness of others” and also less obvious or direct qualities such as showing patience, receptivity, and appreciation. Loving-kindness is a very specific feeling – a caring for the well-being of another living being, independent of approving or disapproving of them, or expecting anything in return.
Loving-Kindness is also an energetic practice, and is initially felt as pleasant warmth in the center of the chest. There is a growing body of scientific research demonstrating many benefits of this meditation of health, mood, and quality of life. In traditional Buddhist practice, Lovingkindess is an antidote to anger and ill will.
In this week’s show, Loving-Kindness practice is presented by Andrew Litchy, ND, a long time practitioner and teacher of this form of meditation.
